September 23 -- We have been out of town this weekend. We returned today to find that our customers had experienced an outage. The outage lasted approximately from 11am to 4pm. A close source informed me that a fiber-optic cable in Little Rock used to transport data had been cut (accidentally?). Anyway, I am posting this news update at 8pm. Our service is back up and running normally. I have also been informed that certain other ISP's in the area (Lawrence County) are still down (as of 8pm), apparently from this mishap.

September 4 -- August was a record month for new customers in the 869/528 area! Because of this sudden growth, many of you have probably been experiencing busy signals during peak hours. So, an order for additional lines will be placed this week. We appreciate everyone's patience concerning this matter.

September 1 -- Want to pay your access fee with a credit card? Now you can! Westweb is now using Paypal to allow credit card payments. This service is extremely easy to use, just click on the Paypal link on our home page and follow the instructions to register. Once registration is complete, you simply E-mail your payment to us. It's that easy! This service is very large on Ebay, the net's largest and most successful auction site. And don't worry! It is very secure!

August 21 -- We finally got our service back up and running around noon today. There was a router problem upstream from us. Once the problem was found, it was a very simple fix (they tell me). As to why it took all weekend to figure out, we don't know. We appreciate everyone's patience concerning this matter. FYI - This has been Westweb's only outage that lasted over 24 hours since our startup in July of 1999.

August 20 -- Congratulations to Chaley Dail, the winner of our six month's free Internet access drawing. The drawing was held Saturday night at the Lawrence County Fair. Thanks to everyone who participated; we had over 200 entries!

August 18 -- Westweb is experiencing difficulties. Our upstream provider is having router problems and because of that our customers can't go anywhere on the net. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope this outage does not last to long.

August 16-19 -- Be sure to visit our booth at the Lawrence County Fair! We will have a drawing for six months free Internet access!

July 2000 -- Visit our booth at the 1st annual Strawberry Fest on July 1st! This event starts at 11:00 AM and will go all day!

June 2000 -- Our bandwidth upgrade is installed (finally!). Our users will experience faster access in all net-related activities. We appreciate everyone's patience concerning this matter.

April 2000 -- New lines have been added to both our Walnut Ridge site and our Imboden site.  Busy signals will be drastically reduced.

March 2000 -- Our content filtering server is now fully operational! This service is currently available only at our 886 pop. We hope to have it available at our 869 pop soon. Remember, this is the only service of its kind in Lawrence County!

March 2000 -- We are experiencing growing pains.   New lines will be added in all areas soon.  We are also expecting an increase in bandwidth by early to mid April.  This should speed up everyone's access.  We have recently discovered some of our troubles were the result of the phone company's growing pains as well.  After speaking to a representative, we learned that some messages, including, "We're sorry...all circuits are busy now" are due to the phone company's overloaded circuits because of a rapid increase in their customers recently.
